It's been a perfect winter so far. Lots of snow in the mountains but not much to shovel. We are gearing up to open and would like to share some local secrets. Early season at Bryce is a great time for seeing the park because there are no crowds. If the snow is still on the ground in the park, cross country skiing and snowshoeing are great ways to experience Bryce in absolute quiet. There are local rentals and we even have some extra pairs of snowshoes.
Late winter and spring are a great time to see the local wildlife as well. I counted 8 Golden and Bald eagles on the way back from Zion last week. We also get a great diversity of new birds at our feeders that are moving through on their migration.
Spring mornings are cool to cold, but days usually warm up nicely anytime the sun is out which is most of the time. The trick is to sleep in and enjoy breakfast, then go out and explore and remember to dress in layers. And there's always hot chocolate and cookies available in the afternoons to warm you up.
There's really nothing like seeing Bryce with a little snow on the hoodoos, so come and join us this spring and take advantage of our spring special!
